Story : It looked so final. In 2003 Robert Rodriguez appeared to call time on his Spy Kids franchise with the definitively titled Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over – credibility intact after a trio of genuinely funny, non-icky children's movies. Now he's back with a fourth, and sadly it's all fart jokes and smart-alec preteens – the stuff that can make taking kids to the pictures a chore. Jessica Alba stars as a retired spook recalled to the service with her baby and stepkids in tow. Ricky Gervais is particularly irritating as the voice of a robot dog, and the whole thing really is miserably unfunny. Presumably as a distraction (and borrowing from the William Castle school of gimmickry) it's presented in Aroma-scope. So, along with 3D specs, audiences will be given scratch'n'sniff cards with eight smells that appear in the movie. It's a swiz: they all smell the same, a gross bottom-of-the-bin stink.
